A Little About Me

Against my will, one of my best friends dragged me to a step class in 1998. I was overweight, unmotivated, and trying to rebound from post-partum depression after my second son was born. Much to my surprise, I loved it. I could not follow half of what the instructor was doing and I literally laughed at myself—out loud, mind you—during the whole class.  Yet it lit a spark in me. Exercise brought me happiness and I felt good once again. After attending classes for two years, I took an extensive group exercise certification course at the local hospital and my personal journey as a fitness professional began.  


Since that time, I have taught a variety of formats: Step, Hi/Lo, Kickboxing, Body Sculpting, “Over Weight and Out of Shape” (yep, that was the official name on the schedule), Seniorcise, Senior Sculpting, and Water Aerobics,  I have been certified through AFAA since 2002 and my CPR training is current.  At this point, Zumba® Fitness is my primary format because it has impacted me the most personally. I am here to help you too, whether it be learning the steps, modifying moves for your needs, or helping you connect with other class participants. (And you are welcome to laugh at yourself too in my classes.  Trust me. It is freeing!)  No matter what I’m teaching, my goal remains the same—to teach a safe and effective class that inspires people to improve their quality of life through exercise.  


Outside of class, I'm a happy wife of over 20 years and a mom to three sons.   I am active in my church and I enjoy gardening, playing guitar, singing, and eating ice cream.
